38. Dive trips in the autumn
We can find great spots even in Europe after the last days of summer.
Many exciting diving adventures wait for us in the autumn. There are some spots in Europe where the water is colder at this time of the year and many divers are freezing but in other places, you can do great dives. With a short flight you can reach countries where the weather is even warmer, feels like summer.
Certainly those who are prepared for cold water dives can find dive spots anywhere. With a good drysuit, you can go underwater even in Scandinavia. The deep, cold and clear fjords in Norway are legendary. There are incredible wreck diving spots too. To explore these mysterious ships which rest in the depth is an amazing experience. If you chose our product, you will be happy with the capabilities of the Spark Action Light dive lamps or video lights.
The Mediterranean attracts a lot of scuba divers in September or October. The peak season is over, there are fewer tourists and the prices are better. And there are just as much to see as in the summer if we know which are the best dive spots. The Croatian Adriatic isn't too warm, but the wall and wreck dives are exceptional. In Malta or Cyprus, the water is great for recreational diving and it's easy to find a dive center because the scuba divers prefer these months. You can plan dive trips to the Turkish, Greek, Italian or Spanish destinations too.
One of the exciting destinations is the Canary Islands which are close to the Northwestern tip of Africa. The weather is nice year-round, the diving is possible in a thick neoprene wetsuit and there is so much to see above and under water! You can swim with turtles in Tenerife, you can meet angel sharks near Gran Canaria and there are many great sites in the whole archipelago.
Those who are interested in a different kind of dive experience can choose the Red Sea which is quite warm even in the autumn. There are plenty of options: the main dive destinations in Egypt, Hurghada, Marsa Alam or the Sinai peninsula are all offering wonderful dives. There are really cheap flights to Eilat in Israel or the nowadays popular Aqaba in Jordan. In Aqaba, they built an underwater museum where you can see several different wrecks: ships, tanks, airplanes. Last year we wrote about our Jordanian dives in the Spark Lights blog too.
The technical divers use to plan their cave dives for the autumn to those spots where the water temperature is the same year-round. There are some warm water caves like the Molnár János Cave in Budapest where diving is fun when outside the weather is cold.
There are plenty of destinations to choose from if somebody wants to dive in Europe or close to Europe in the autumn. And we didn't even mention the exotic travel destinations- if you are a keen scuba diver, there are so many exciting places to visit all around the globe.
